Hope and Soul

I recently made about a dozen A5 sized paintings which I then printed onto card to sell as gifts at a little shop nearby called 'Hope and Soul'; here are a few photos of them packaged and labelled up, ready to sell!
This is the last post from me for a while as I embark on an adventure to Belgium again! I will hopefully return bursting with ideas, drawings and photographs which will all be shared in due time. Au revoir for now everyone!

Festival Packing Guide

If you're heading away to any music festivals this summer, firstly, lucky you, and secondly, be sure to have a read of A Little Opulent's 'Festival Packing Guide' to check that you have all the essentials!

I used watercolours for the illustration, which I am enjoying reacquainting myself with after quite a long time of not using them. I think the most important thing is to make sure you are using proper watercolour paper, because wrinkly paper is a nightmare and is pretty much what stopped me from using them. I'm also gradually learning that less is more with watercolours, (difficult for me because I love detail) but I'm getting there slowly!

Greencastle

This weekend my dad, brother and I took a little trip down to a small seaside village called Greencastle, which gets its name from the castle situated there (you can see it in the background of photo 1 and 3). We went for a walk along the beach and although it is a beautiful area, it was sad to see how much litter was strewn along the way - it really ruins the natural beauty. But anyway - enough complaining - here are some photos I took along the way:

Dublin City

A recent trip to Dublin with some friends was followed by a quick drawing of some of the sights seen on our bus tour, which brought us from the famous O'Connell street all the way to Phoenix Park and the Guinness factory.
My favourite part of our day was visiting the National Museum of Archaeology where we saw fascinating bodies that had been preserved in peat for centuries and had remained almost completely intact, and the Kilmainham Gaol which gave a bit of Irish history and new appreciation of my current living arrangement!

The illustration below was hand drawn and coloured using Photoshop.

Bíodh lá maith agat!
(Have a nice day!)
